Looking Down
Our task was to go outside and take pictures of interesting things we saw from a higher angle, like on the link as people were walking between lessons. I think I succeeded in doing this as I managed to get some interesting images up on top of the link and on the top of the stairs. In future, I think I would use some more models in one image, instead of using one model per image. This could be interesting because I was telling the model where to stand, but if there were more models, they could be doing different things and standing in different places at once, which could make the camera focus on different things or models, making the image have blurred patches or un focused patches which could make it more interesting as well. The images we took were in colour (But could easily be changed to black or white using photoshop). I think this makes a difference because if the image was in black and white it would contrast more.
Shadows And Reflections
Our task was to take around 10 photos of reflective surfaces and shadows. I think I succeeded in doing this task as, all of the pictures I took were of reflective surfaces, such as, windows and mirrors. The image I think worked best was the 4th image as we used the mirror in the dance studio and I captured the movement of the girl jumping. To improve, I would probably try and find different reflective surfaces because I used the windows as a reflective surface in a lot of them, only changing poses and position in them. I would also try to use different models other than myself or Chardae. I also took a lot of pictures of shadows of people.
Over The Shoulder
Our task was to take 10 pictures looking over someones shoulder. I think I succeeded in this task as I got some interesting pictures looking over peoples shoulders, however, I didn't mange to get all 10 because a lot of them came out looking similar to the other ones and these turned out the best of them. I need to improve by taking more pictures of different models or different backgrounds, as I mostly took the images up on the link with the same people. I think the best image was the 3rd one as the background and foreground has interesting things in it, like the vibrant colours of the green on the trees which stands out against most of the brick colours from the school building in a lot of my images.
Cropping
Our task was to take 10 pictures of things that have small details that could be interesting to crop and focus on. I like the last image because I managed to capture the people as they were taking over the shoulder pictures. I thing this image is good because it is simple and the ground around them looks to be completely flat and has a sandy texture and colour. I also like the picture of the birds flying in the sky because the dull grey sky contrasts against the black birds. The birds also have no details on them, due to how high up they were, this makes them look like silhouettes. I think the first image isn't as good as the other ones because I think it's boring as there is nothing very interesting going on in it, and the colours of the school building don't contrast as much which the green a I had originally thought.
Walk On By
Our task was to take 10 images of people while they're walking by. I think I succeeded because I was able to take these images easily, especially during the transition of people going to lessons. I really like the second image because I managed to capture the model as he was jumping over the benches on the concourse, and I also captured the movement as he was jumping. I think this task was the easiest because you don't need to plan before hand, or decide on the background and the models. To improve, I would take more images, and take pictures in different places instead of just near and on the link.
Surfaces/textures
Our task was to take 10 images of different surfaces. I'm not sure whether I succeeded or not as I didn't manage to get all 10 images, but I didn't find it difficult to find surfaces which had textures. I really like the third image because the tree trunk created a sort of rough and bumpy texture which you can see and almost feel in the image. This is the same for the first one, because the ground created a stoney bumpy surface. To improve, I would try to find different textures, as most of mine have bumpy or rough textures.

Martha Cooper
Martha Cooper is best known for documenting the New York City Graffiti scene of the 1970s and 1980s. I like this image because the photographer captured the image as the girls were playing their game. This image was taken from a lower angle, as you can see most of the wall and a lot go the graffiti on the wall. The dull grey colour that covers the entire image contrasts with the black graffiti that covers the wall. The angle in which this picture was taken suggests movement as the image is also slightly slanted so it looks like the wall is carrying on passed the image. I like how the photographer managed to capture the girls as they were playing their game, but its not blurry, so it doesn't look messy. The graffiti on the wall says a lot about what type of area they live in, which looks to be a poorer area. The girls are positioned in the centre of the image, making them the main focus of the picture.
Rebecca Lepkoff
Rebecca Lepkoff grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Fascinated by the area in which she lived in, she captured the life of what happened to the people around her, the children in the streets, the buildings and the signs outside of store fronts. I like the third image because she managed to capture the girl as she was skipping or jumping at the perfect time. I also like the composition of the shadows and the smoke in the image and the position of the people. The contrast between the dark shadows and the light reflecting onto the ground gives the image a more interesting look. The girl is almost central to the image, which makes her the main focus of the picture. The dark shadows and lighting give the two characters at the side a dark and mischievous look, which is also supported by the smoke towards the edge of the image, and what appears to be a dark building the covers the background of the picture. The building in the background gives an eerie feel to the picture.

TATE MODERN TRIP: final outcome
evaluation
For my final outcome for the theme Street Photography, we arranged a day trip to the Tate Modern. The trip was planned so that along the way we would pass some interesting places, including a market and lots of graffiti. As we made our way to the Tate and back, I was sure to keep my camera on and ready at all times, in order to capture the interesting things I experienced. I think that is the most important part of street photography; being ready for the unexpected. Street photography can capture life as it is or interesting unexpected things on the street. Street photography captures the personality of an area, which is why I think I succeeded in this task as from my images you can tell that the Tate Modern and the area around it is an unique and busy place, based on the interesting art plastered on walls and the strange activity happening all around, including, someone dressed as a panda, someone blowing large bubbles with a net and a paddling pool, someone cooking insects in the market, a large walkthrough tunnel with small colourful lights spread all over the ceiling and graffiti covering every wall. I began taking images at Kidbrooke station, and continued up until we began going back to school. I think the difference between the two areas is shown through the unintentional lack of colour seen in the images at the station and on the train, yet when I started walking to the Tate, colours begin to become more prominent and more consistent. Although this was unplanned, I really like the contrast between the two places. My favourite part of the trip was walking through the market place. I really liked this area because there were lots of interesting things to photograph and lots of colours, which makes those specific pictures taken in the market stand out against all the other images.
